Cadillac Brings The Heat With Track-Ready V-Series Blackwing Sedans

Get excited people, because Cadillac just introduced the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, two of the most powerful, track-capable Cadillacs ever built, developed with driver engagement and performance at the top of mind, while continuing to set new standards for luxury and comfort.

The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is packing a 6.2L Supercharged V8 that puts out 668 HP and 659 lb-ft of torque. That’s good for a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph. Those are supercar numbers, but from a five-passenger luxury sedan that probably tips the scales at 4,000 lbs. Oh yeah, and it comes with a six-speed manual transmission standard.

As for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, it’s powered by a 3.6L Twin-Turbo V6 that puts out 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. The car rockets from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 189 mph. It too comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, for a more engaging experience on the track or on the road.

“V-Series Blackwing stands for the very highest level of execution from Cadillac and offers a distinctly American vision of performance: incredible power and luxurious craftsmanship, with absolutely zero compromise,” said Brandon Vivian, executive chief engineer, Cadillac. “We looked to our championship-winning racing heritage and brought an uncompromising eye for detail to create two cars that elevate the V-Series experience.”

Both of these V-Series Blackwing models were developed with driver engagement and performance at the top of mind. In addition to giving these cars massive power, Cadillac engineers also made sure that they’d be ready for the track with electronic limited slip rear differentials, advanced suspension refinements, magnetic ride control, unique structural enhancements, huge Brembo brakes, MICHELIN Pilot Sport 4S tires, and a reduction of weight wherever possible.

While I’ve touched on the important bits, you can read the complete press release to get all of the nitty-gritty details on these two super sedans.

I’ve been a fan of the Cadillac V-series since the second-gen CTS-V’s came out, and they just improved from there. The cars were just stupid fast and fun. Needless to say, I was pretty sad when Caddy discontinued the CTS-V and ATS-V awhile back, so I’m thrilled to see their legacy living on in the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing.

Reservations for both vehicles can be made on Cadillac.com, with deliveries scheduled for later this summer. Pricing for the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing begins at $59,990, while the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing starts at $84,990.

What do you think of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing sedans?
